Spellings at Swanwick Primary School

At Swanwick Primary School, we encourage our children to thrive as writers.  Through the Literacy Tree scheme, we use high quality texts to inspire and engage our pupils, along with providing them with the essential skills they all need to be successful and flourish under our care. We aim to encourage a love of reading and writing, expanding imaginative and enquiring minds whilst providing a plethora of writing opportunities with a genuine audience and purpose in mind. From the moment our children begin their learning journey at Swanwick, they are guided to develop the knowledge needed to become confident and independent writers, armed with the tools to make progress and achieve. 

We follow the Read Write Inc Spelling scheme, which seamlessly follows on from our Read Write inc Phonics Scheme

You can find the word lists for each KS2 year group on this page, along with a video explaining the scheme in a nutshell.

The sound chart below replicates the RWI phonics sound chart and illustrates the range of sounds within most words.

Children use this chart within the sessions to support their spelling choices.

Children can log into Oxford Owl using this link . Key Stage 2 children will also have access to home learning activities to consolidate spellings.
