We are committed to ensuring that Swanwick Primary School is a happy and safe place in which children can flourish, learn and thrive in all aspects of their lives. Our new safeguarding policy gives details of how we achieve this aim.

We have:
Introduced an electronic signing in system which issues visitors with photo-identification so that unauthorized visitors can quickly be detected.

All attended up-to-date safeguarding training this year with particular attention given to the needs of Derbyshire schools and families.

Opened the PPod- a service designed to support children and their families through times of difficulty.

Regularly invited in representatives from the NSPCC to come and speak to our children about the help available through Childline, and done follow up work in the classroom after each assembly.

Recognized the importance of e-safety in today's fast-changing world and regularly taken part in Safer Internet Day in February.

Introduced a new school reward system called THRIVE (based on recommendations from the school council) which recognizes that academic success is not the only goal in education and rewards children for qualities such as humour, resiliance, independence, integrity and enthusiasm. This allows all children to have the opportunity to succeed and raises self-esteem.

Introduced electronic registers in all classrooms, which means that teachers can quickly and efficiently inform the office of unexplained child absences.

A member of staff on the front gate every morning to meet and greet parents and pupils.

We are currently:
Training a third member of staff as a designated child-protection lead.

Introducing "My Concern" which is an online reporting system for concerns relating to child welfare
