Swanwick Primary School
Together we achieve

Mrs Holdsworth and Miss Langford

There are some really special activities in store for our Year 4 pupils at Swanwick Primary. All year 4 pupils are offered the opportunity to learn to play a brass instrument for the year with the help of two talented musicians who visit the school on a weekly basis, culminating in a concert played with the Halle Orchestra in Manchester. Another highlight of the year is our visit to the Hollowford Centre near Castleton in the Peak District. This provides our year 4 children with an incredible experience to build their confidence, friendships and develop their life-long learning skills as well as creating enjoyable memories that will last a lifetime.

At multiple points throughout the year, we invite ‘The Specialists’ in to our school. The child-centred activity days, that they provide, bring our curriculum to life with interactive demonstrations and performances. Year 4 thoroughly enjoy being able to access and experience history in this hands on environment and this engagement is evident in the enthusiastic attitude that we have toward our work!

Our enquiry questions for the year are...
Why did the Egyptians build pyramids?
What would it be like to live in France?
What makes Swanwick special?
What did the Anglo-Saxons do for Britain?

We hope you enjoy our artwork in the style of the impressionist painter, Claude Monet.

The painting we have copied is Morning Landscape which he painted in 1888.
