Swanwick Primary School

Together we achieve

Governors

Why be a Governor?

We are all Governors because we want to make a positive contribution to the education of the children at Swanwick Primary School.  We are representative of the different groups of people who are involved with the running of the school.

What do we do?

As Governors, we have an important part to play in raising the standards of our school. We: set the aims and objectives for the school set the policies and targets for achieving those aims and objectives. Regularly monitor and evaluate progress the school is making towards achieving those aims and objectives. Make difficult decisions around the allocation of resources within school, including finance, challenge and support all staff including Mrs Hannant , our headteacher.  We are a "critical friend". Any day to day issues relating to the children’s learning are addressed by the staff.

How are we Appointed?

Staff Governor- a member of the staff and who is elected by the staff
Parent Governors - a parent of a child at school elected by the parents, or if there is only one nomination appointed by the governors)
Co-opted  Governor - a member of our local community
