Together we achieve

Friends of Swanwick Primary School

Registered Charity No. 1072231
South Street Swanwick Derbyshire DE55 1BZ

Who are we?

We are a group of parents, grandparents and teachers who work together to raise additional funds for Swanwick Primary school. This allows the school to purchase items which would not normally be possible within the school budget in order to enrich the school experience for all the children. In addition, we try to subsidise the cost of the some school trips. We are very proud of all the contributions Friends has been able to make to the school over the years which include purchasing wooden outdoor teaching spaces, the adventure playground enjoyed by all years, a climbing wall for children in Reception, weather stations, indoor and outdoor seating and much more.

The current committee is made up of:

‍Chair: Katie Crockett
‍Vice Chair: Gemma Sheldon
‍Treasurer: Kirsty Riley
‍Secretary: Helen Fullwood
‍Teacher : Miss Mallard, Mrs Petter, Lynn Braisby, Alan Braisby Rosemarie Wood, Karen Whitehead, Karen Morden

Events and meetings

‍We organise a range of events throughout the year which bring children and families together. Although the members naturally change over time, two clear goals remain: to raise much needed funds for the school and to ensure we offer children enjoyable experiences. Our events are always extremely well attended and we are very grateful to parents for their continued support. We meet monthly at 7:00 in the main hall to plan for coming events and to consider funding requests. These meetings usually last around one hour. This year's events and meetings are listed below. Meeting dates 7:00 in the main hall

Why get involved?

Being a member of the committee is a very rewarding experience. It's a great opportunity to get to know other parents and carers and to help benefit all children in the school. We also have plenty of laughs along the way! From our current members:“I joined Friends to put something back into the school, as they give so much.”“I wanted to have the chance to do something positive for the school and have really enjoyed getting to know such a friendly group of people.”“We decided that as we have two grandchildren at Swanwick Primary school and like the way the school is run, it would be nice to join in as a way of showing our appreciation. Every little helps!”

Could you help?

‍Like all committees, we are always on the lookout for new members to join us - not only to help out at events if possible but to contribute new ideas. We know not every parent can commit to attending the meetings, but if you feel you could help out in any way then it would make a huge difference.
